LifeStraw 7-Cup Glass Pitcher Troubleshooting
Housing Seal Feels Tight, Stuck, or Difficult to Reinsert
Issue
Some customers may find that the filter housing in the 7-cup glass pitcher feels tight, difficult to remove, or difficult to place back into the glass carafe.
Why This Happens
The 7-cup glass carafe is handblown, which means slight variations in size and shape are expected. Because of this, the filter housing seal may fit more snugly in some pitchers than others.
The seal is designed to help create a secure fit between the housing and the carafe. When the seal is dry, it can create extra friction against the glass, making the housing harder to remove or reinstall.
What to Try Before Removing the Housing
If the housing feels stuck or difficult to lift out:
Add a small amount of water into the glass carafe.
Gently tilt or swirl the carafe so the water reaches the area where the seal contacts the glass.
Allow the seal to become slightly wet.
Try removing the housing again using steady, even pressure.
Do not force the housing out aggressively or use sharp tools, as this could damage the glass or housing.
What to Try Before Reinstalling the Housing
If the housing is difficult to place back into the carafe:
Lightly wet the seal with clean water.
Align the housing properly with the glass carafe.
Press down evenly and gently until the housing sits securely in place.
Wetting the seal helps reduce friction and allows the housing to slide into place more smoothly.
Important Notes
Slight variation in the glass carafe is normal because it is handblown.
The housing seal may feel snug by design.
A small amount of clean water can help with both removal and reinstallation.
Do not use soap, oil, grease, or other lubricants on the seal.
Do not use knives, screwdrivers, or other tools to pry the housing out.
If the glass, housing, or seal appears damaged, cracked, misshapen, or still will not seat properly after trying these steps, contact LifeStraw Customer Support for additional assistance.
