Returns and Warranty FAQ for Amazon and Third Party Retailer PurchasesUpdated 4 hours ago

I bought my LifeStraw on Amazon or from a retailer. How do I start a return?

Start with the original retailer whenever possible, especially if you are still within their return or exchange window. This is usually the fastest path to a full resolution, and many retailers can process returns or exchanges immediately.

What are typical return windows for common retailers?

Return policies can vary by seller and location, but typical windows include:

Amazon: 30 days
REI: 1 year
Target: 90 days
Walmart: 90 days
Crate and Barrel: 30 days

Always confirm the specific policy on your order receipt or retailer account.

What if I need a full product replacement?

When a product is broken, defective, or unusable and requires a full replacement, we first check whether the purchase is still within the retailer's return or exchange window.

  • If the retailer window is still open, we will direct you to the retailer for a return or exchange. We do not provide a full replacement while you are still eligible to return the product to the retailer. This prevents a situation where the customer receives a refund from the retailer while also receiving a full replacement from LifeStraw.
  • If the retailer window has closed, we will review your request under the applicable LifeStraw warranty, including proof of purchase, purchase source, warranty period, and cause of the product failure.

What if I only need a spare part?

When the issue can be resolved with a spare or replacement part, LifeStraw may assist even if the purchase is still within the retailer's return period. Providing a spare part allows you to continue using your original product and does not create the same duplicate-resolution risk as a full replacement.

Examples of spare parts we may be able to provide include:

  • Cap or lid
  • Hose or connector
  • Seal or O-ring
  • Syringe or backwashing accessory
  • Other available replaceable components

What does the LifeStraw warranty cover?

Warranty support applies when a product or component fails during normal intended use due to a defect in materials, manufacturing, or workmanship. Examples include:

  • A leaking seam or connection not caused by impact or misuse
  • A valve, lid, spigot, or other component that fails prematurely
  • A product that does not function as intended after proper setup and reasonable troubleshooting
  • A missing, incorrect, or defective component included with the original purchase
  • A filter or reusable component that fails unusually early despite proper use, cleaning, and storage

What is not covered by the warranty?

Warranty replacement generally does not apply to:

  • Accidental damage or breakage
  • Dropped or impact-damaged products
  • Broken glass caused after delivery
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic damage, staining, or discoloration
  • Lost or discarded products or parts
  • Misuse, modification, freezing, excessive heat, or use with unsupported liquids
  • Improper cleaning, storage, or maintenance
  • Filters that have reached their expected lifespan or capacity
  • Reduced flow caused by sediment, minerals, or challenging water conditions rather than a defect
  • Used, refurbished, renewed, or resale purchases, including Amazon Renewed or REI Re/Supply

Can I get a refund from LifeStraw for an Amazon or retailer purchase?

We do not offer refunds for purchases made outside LifeStraw.com. For refunds, please work directly with the original retailer whenever possible.

Will you send replacement parts internationally?

Replacement availability and shipping depend on the part and destination. At this time, we are unable to send replacement parts to all countries.

What happens after I submit my information?

Once we receive the requested details, we will review your claim and begin processing the best available solution.
