The Sip Essential comes with a cap attached to ensure that the mouthpiece stays clean.
For short-term storage- follow the steps below:
- Blow air through the mouthpiece and give the Sip Essential a gentle shake to expel any water left in the microfilter membranes. Be sure not to drink the water, which was expelled from the straw, as this is from the dirty water / inlet side of the straw, and could be contaminated water.
- Remove the mouthpiece cap, silicone mouthpiece, silicone plug and bottom cap. Wash the cps and silicone parts with soap and water, then set aside in a clean area to dry completely.
- Rinse the Sip housing exterior with clean water. Do not wash the straw or filter with soap.
- Assemble the mouthpiece while the Sip Essential is still wet.
- Wipe the exterior of the straw dry and allow all the parts to dry completely before reassembly.
- We recommend storing the sip in a cool, clean environment.
