Q: What is new about the Essential Pitcher?
A: The Essential Pitcher features a one-piece pitcher body design and does not have a welded seam. This helps reduce potential failure points and improve durability.

Q: Does the Essential Pitcher come in glass?
A: No. The Essential Pitcher is available only in plastic in 7 cup and 10-cup sizes. Our original 7-cup glass pitcher remains part of the LifeStraw lineup.

Filtration and parts

Q: What filters come with the pitcher?
A: The pitcher comes with a membrane microfilter and an activated carbon + ion exchange filter.

Q: Do the filters come pre-installed?
A: Yes. The pitcher comes with the filters pre-installed.

Q: Are existing LifeStraw Home replacement filters compatible with the Essential Pitcher?
A: Yes. The existing LifeStraw Home membrane microfilter and activated carbon + ion exchange filter are compatible with the Essential Pitcher.

Q: What is the vent tube for?
A: The vent tube helps prevent air from becoming trapped between filtration stages during use.

Q: Do you sell replacement parts for the Essential Pitcher?
A: Currently, we do not offer replacement parts for the Essential Pitcher.

Cleaning and dishwasher use

Q: Is the Essential Pitcher dishwasher safe?
A: Yes. The pitcher has been tested through repeated dishwasher cycles, including high heat conditions.

Q: Should I take the lid apart for cleaning?
A: No. We do not recommend disassembling the lid for routine cleaning. For best results, clean the lid using a soft bottle brush.

Q: How can I help prevent scratches?
A: Like many clear plastics, the pitcher can scratch with normal use over time. To help minimize scratching, avoid abrasive scrubbers and use a soft sponge or bottle brush.

Using the pitcher

Q: My bottom cap feels loose. What should I do?
A: If the bottom cap feels loose, twist it to tighten it. It should be securely fastened before use.

Q: Will the pitcher fit in my refrigerator?
A: The Essential Pitcher is designed to fit in most standard refrigerators, but we recommend reviewing the dimensions below to confirm it fits within your space prior to purchase.

Q: How fast should the pitcher filter water?
A: The flow may start out slow but should improve after the first few batches. Once broken in, the flow rate should be about 85–225 ml per minute, or roughly 1/3 to 1 cup per minute. Flow will reduce over time as the membrane microfilter reaches the end of its life and needs to be replaced.

Q: What material is the pitcher made from?
A: The pitcher body is made from SMMA and includes silicone components.

Q: Is the pitcher BPA free?
A: Yes. The Essential Pitcher is BPA-free.

Q: Is it normal for clear plastic to show wear over time?
