We’re excited for you to try your LifeStraw Escape. When you first open the box, you may notice a few small cosmetic details that are a normal part of the manufacturing, assembly, and shipping process. These can include slight texture variations, minor exterior scuffs, or small amounts of white residue near sealing areas. These details do not necessarily indicate that your Escape has been previously used..

What may be normal on a new Escape

• Slight texture variations: Small differences in surface texture can occur as part of the molding process.
• Minor exterior scuffs or marks: The outer container may pick up light cosmetic scuffs during manufacturing, assembly, packaging, or shipment.
• Small white specks or residue on or around seals: You may notice small white specks near seals or sealing surfaces. This is from a food-safe lubricant used during manufacturing to help support seal performance and is normal.

How the Escape should arrive

• The membrane filter should already be installed in the Escape.
• The carbon filter should be separately packaged and added before use.
• The product may have minor cosmetic variation from the manufacturing and shipping process.

When to contact us

Please contact LifeStraw Customer Service if you see anything that seems beyond normal cosmetic variation, such as:

• clear signs that the product has been used with water before arrival
• an opened or unpackaged carbon filter
• significant damage, cracking, or deformation
• unusual residue, odor, or anything else that causes concern about the condition of the product
