For short storage or when not in use for more than 2 days:

  1. Turn off the tap.
  2. Drain water from the unit to avoid standing water.

For long term storage:

  1. Empty the clean water tank, dirty water tank, and backwash bottle.
  2. Clean the dirty water tank with water and a cloth.
  3. Wipe the outside of the unit, including the taps, filter body, and stand.
  4. Clean the safe storage tank thoroughly with a cloth, soap, and clean water.
  5. Backwash the unit 1 time to help remove water from the cartridge and bellows.
  6. If possible, store the unit assembled on a raised surface.
  7. Do not place heavy objects on top of it.
  8. Do not place anything inside the tanks.
  9. Store in a dry, secure area. The manual also notes placement should be on a flat surface, out of direct sunlight, and preferably indoors.

Before using again after long term storage:

  1. Fill the dirty water tank fully with unfiltered water.
  2. Add 1 purification cleaning tablet to the dirty water tank, or add 7 mL of 3.5% bleach.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Wait until water starts filtering into the safe storage container.
  5. Backwash by pulling the handle fully down and releasing it.
  6. Let the safe storage container fill.
  7. Discard that filtered water by opening all 4 taps at the same time.
  8. Resume normal use.
