LifeStraw Go Series | How do I clean my LifeStraw Go Series mouthpiece?Updated 2 months ago
Keeping the mouthpiece clean is important, but it is just as important to regularly clean the inside of the lid that covers the mouthpiece. That enclosed, moist area can trap water droplets and residue, which can allow bacteria, mold, or mildew to grow over time if it is not cleaned thoroughly. We recommend a weekly cleaning at minimum to keep your bottle in tip-top shape.
To clean properly, make sure you clean three areas:
The mouthpiece
The inside of the lid that surrounds and covers the mouthpiece
The cap threads and any tight corners where moisture can sit
You can also remove the mouthpiece for a deeper clean by unscrewing it from the lid.
To clean the mouthpiece, follow these simple steps:
- Remove the filter from the bottle.
- Remove the carbon capsule from the top of the filter.
- Unscrew the silicone mouthpiece from the lid.
- Soak your mouthpiece in a diluted bleach solution. Use ¼ teaspoon of bleach per 2 Cups of water (5 ml of bleach to 500 ml of water).
- Using a toothbrush or pipe cleaner, wash the mouthpiece along with the bottle and lid with detergent, and thoroughly rinse the membrane microfilter with water. Do not use soap to clean the filter body.
- Reassemble and drink up
