How to Replace Your LifeStraw Home Filters in Pitchers and DispensersUpdated 2 months ago
To keep your LifeStraw Home pitcher or dispenser performing at its best, it's important to replace the filters regularly. Here's a quick overview, along with a helpful how-to video:
Filter Lifespan & Replacement Guidelines:
- Activated Carbon + Ion Exchange Filter
– Lasts up to 40 gallons / 150 liters (about every 2 months)
– Replace when you notice a change in taste - Membrane Microfilter
– Lasts up to 264 gallons / 1,000 liters (about once per year)
– Replace when water flow slows or stops
How to Replace the Activated Carbon + Ion Exchange Filter:
- Remove the filter housing and pop off the bottom cap using your thumbs.
- Remove and discard the used carbon filter.
- Unwrap the new carbon filter and rinse it under water for 1 minute.
- Insert the new carbon filter into the housing and snap the cap back on.
How to Replace the Membrane Microfilter:
- Remove the filter housing from your pitcher or dispenser (Best practice: Replace the carbon filter at the same time.)
- Discard the used carbon filter.
- Remove the top lid of the housing to access the membrane filter.
- Push the membrane filter out from inside the housing and discard it.
- Insert the new membrane filter, pressing firmly until fully seated.
- Install the carbon filter and reattach the bottom cap.
Final Step:
Run one full batch of water through the new filters. The flow may be slow at first (especially the first 3 batches), but it will speed up over time.
You're now ready to enjoy clean, great-tasting water again!
