How do I rehydrate a membrane microfilter?Updated 2 months ago

REHYDRATE: 

Our lab has found that rehydrating the filter with mouthwash (yep, mouthwash!) can sometimes resolve issues with flow. Here are the instructions for rehydration:

Rehydration Instructions:

1. Remove the membrane microfilter (MF filter) from your LifeStraw pitcher or bottle.
2. Submerge the MF filter fully in mouthwash for about 1 minute.
3. Rinse the MF filter under clean tap water for another 1 minute.

First-Time Setup Steps After Rehydration:

1. Follow the First-Time Setup instructions in your user manual.
2. Discard the first filtered batch without the activated carbon filter (ACF).
3. Discard the second filtered batch with the ACF.
4. Starting with the third batch, the water should taste and smell fresh.
