Does LifeStraw reduce Chromium-6 in drinking water?

LifeStraw Home products contain an activated carbon and ion exchange filter that is designed to reduce a broad range of chemical contaminants. Chromium-6 (hexavalent chromium) is not one of the contaminants for which LifeStraw currently makes an official reduction claim.

If Chromium-6 is a known concern in your water, we recommend using treatment methods that are widely recognized and certified for reducing this contaminant. These include:

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO)
  • Distillation
  • Anion Exchange Resin

These technologies are not used in LifeStraw products currently. We remain committed to transparency and product safety, and we continuously evaluate emerging science and testing data to inform future improvements.
