My LifeStraw Community has an unpleasant or moldy smell? What do I do?

To clean the LifeStraw Community system, we recommend using a diluted bleach solution. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of household bleach with 1 liter (about 4 cups) of water. Run this solution through the filter system to disinfect it, and then thoroughly rinse with clean water until there is no bleach smell remaining.

This cleaning should be done if the system has not been used for a while or if you want to ensure optimal hygiene. It’s a good practice to perform this at least once every few months, depending on usage, but be sure to always rinse well before using the filter again.
